Background: Once in a while, a great wine is born. It's kind of a secret, because the producer just doesn't export much. Then, like a lightening strike, it gets international recognition by the experts at Wine Spectator. And BOOM! This "little wine" is BIG TIME. Everyone wants it. No one can get it. Except you.
About "Leradici" Barbera d'Asti: The Barbera grape makes wines that are famously food-friendly and ridiculously easy-drinking. Smooth, structured, acidic, fruity. This is the magic combination for food (and cheese) pairing. This particular bottling, exclusively from the Le Radici vineyard in Costigliole d'Asti, captures the essence of this outstanding grape. Made by a Mauro and his two children (son Matteo and daughter Martina), Leradici ("roots"), is all about family - and is a true labor of love.
Tasting Notes: Hints of cherry and red fruits alternating with spicy and sometimes floral hints. A Barbera of excellent structure and complexity with sweet and velvety tannins. From Wine Spectator: "Concentrated, muscular, blackberry, plum, chocolate, spice."
Appellation: Barbera d'Asti, Piedmont, Italy
